- Bay area artist, critic, and arts administrator was a friend of Bruce Conner, whom he first met in the late 1950s through the activities of the San Francisco Art Institute’s Art Bank the gallery and art advocacy initiative of the acclaimed art schools. Martin was the curator of the gallery, and worked closely with Conner on exhibiting and promoting his work. They remained friends for decades.
